Web Reasoning and Rule Systems Association (RRA)

The Web Reasoning and Rule Systems Association (RRA) is a non-profit organisation founded in 2009 whose objective is to promote the scientific aspects of Web-based reasoning and rule systems, with an emphasis on principles and applications of rule-based approaches and languages. The reasoning landscape features theoretical areas such as knowledge representation (KR) and algorithms; design aspects of rule markup; design of ontology languages; engineering of engines, translators, and other tools; standardization efforts, such as the Rules Interchange Format activity (RIF) at W3C and the RDF Mapping Language (RML); and applications. Of particular interest is also the use of rules to facilitate ontology modeling, and the relationships and possible interactions between rules and languages used in knowledge representation, like RDF, OWL, and RML, as well as reasoning related to such formalisms.

RRA's purpose is implemented in particular by conducting an annual event, which since 2017 is organized jointly with the RuleML Association, and which since 2020 takes place under the umbrella of the Declarative AI event. Within Declarative AI, RRA is responsible for:

The International Joint Conference on Rules and Reasoning (RuleML+RR), organized jointly with the RuleML Association. RuleML+RR is the leading international conference in rule-based reasoning, devoted to theoretical advancements, novel technologies, and innovative applications of knowledge representation and reasoning with rules. RuleML+RR features the Rule Challenge and a Doctoral Consortium as associated events.
The Reasoning Web Summer School (RW), which disseminates recent advances on reasoning and related issues that are of interest to Semantic Web and Linked Data applications. It is primarily intended for postgraduate (PhD or MSc) students, postdocs, young researchers, and senior researchers. Since 2011, the Reasoning Web Summer School has been co-located with the conference organized by RRA.

The International Conference on Web Reasoning and Rule Systems (RR) aims to be the major forum for discussion and dissemination of new results on all topics concerning Web Reasoning and Rule Systems. This joint conference is devoted to all aspects of Semantic Web Reasoning, with an emphasis on rule-based approaches and languages. It welcomes both theoretical and practical works on this wide subject.
